Well, I'm rather surprised to say a hello on Android Central, some of y'all know me from the CrackBerry side of things, with the same screen name and all. Have I fallen from grace? No, not yet. But I'm on the precipice. And of all things, the push becomes Baseball.

I'm sitting here today debating about pulling the trigger on a MoPhoton. It is not a terrifying thought, by any means, but it is probably the less problematic and costly of my options, being as it would be a free upgrade. I've been researching for the last two weeks, ever since I found out MLB wasn't supporting me this year.

So, may have to rethink my touchscreen stance, perhaps give Swype some time to grow on me, and start learning some new stuff. Thanks for your time and comments, folks, this is definitely a hard day for me.....but, at least I'm not aiming for a bargain-basement Android to start with. ;)

Welcome to the Android Central forums. You'll find plenty of fellow, former BlackBerry users around here. Enjoy!

Thankya! Definitely taking some time to read up on devices before I make any jump. But, stuck at a terminal right now and can't go play with it again. Really some interesting reading to be done!

The Getting Started link at the top of the page has plenty of helpful information, including some hints for those moving from BlackBerry to Android.

Oh, yeah, I've been looking at the different forums and tip threads/forums, and it would definitely make more sense once I go hands on. The wife and I discussed our options, and expect we'll probably get our feet wet sometime this week.

After reading up on the Android selections, and knowing our budgetary concerns, and the issue we have with signal in our home, that choice has tilted in favor of the Photon. I've gotten hands on with at least one live one, so far, and the biggest adjustment I have to make is typing on a virtual keyboard. Powerwise, it will be a big step up from my current BlackBerry, and looks to have a fair amount of promise.

Then it will be time to set up for tethering my lappy, learning different functions, and seeing if the shoe fits.

AC being a part of Mobile Nations helps, in knowing the formats and forum styles.

But, the platform definitely has a lot of differences. That's where I'll need to cut my teeth. :D
