AC Question

Hello everyone... I have a real brain teaser of an issue here. I have a i9500 S4 running 5.0.1 and just Dec of 2016 I replaced the battery. I had an issue a day ago where my phone suddenly crashed EVERY time I opened an app... did not matter which one. I thought it was a software issue and naturally reset the phone (twice... both by normal means and by hard reset after wiping partition) but to no avail. it would turn on... then as you open an app... it shut off and restarted. then it would do this on it's own without touching it.

So at this point, I figure it's time to bin my trusty phone.

But I noticed that if I had it plugged in, that it did not restart as much or at all. So I got to thinking and had a S4 Active nearby with it's original battery. Strange enough... the phone has NOT restarted or failed since I have. I replaced my recently purchased battery and as I put it in... the phone crashed.

But here is the thing: I put the new battery in the s4 Active (running 4.2.2) and the is NO issue. The phone works fine and holding much more charge than the one that was in it...

So I cannot understand why the S4 crashes with the new battery and the Active doesn't. Can anyone shed any light as to what that might be or why something like that could be happening?
