Hi all, Well I bought the Galaxy 10.1 13 days ago expecting to end up with the port happy Thrive. after two days my conclusion was easy and unexpected.

Short and sweet.

First, the screen on the Thrive is nowhere close to the Galaxy - Period!

The sound is inferior.

The sleep switch is defective with an update now promised at some point.

Next up, Funny, I read a comment of the chrome peeling off the camera bezel this morning. Well I just went to try a silly work around to fix the sleep button switchby removing the battery. The Xoom is built like a tank, FYI.

Beta tester is right! I spent much of yesterday with the Thrive instead of my Flyer. I missed the smoothness and responsiveness of the Flyer all day. Whether it's software or hardware, the Thrive just isn't ready for prime time yet. It is laggy and frequently freezes up requiring a power off to bring it back to life. I will take it back and stick with the tried and true Flyer.

I've had every honeycomb tablet and I'm sticking with the thrive. The screen might not be as vibrant as the tab but the colors are more accurate then the tab. Thrive is also alot more smoother and faster then the tab and I love the SD card slot!! My photos from my slr look awesome. I've had no real issues with the thrive that an update can't fix I say its the most complete honeycomb tablet software wise and hardware

Re: Congrates to all of us Thrive beta testers Beware of many iss

The lag is evident on all the Honeycomb tablets. It's a stock browser thing. I don't get any lag for my Asus Transformer unless I'm using the browser. It is frustrating yes, but I can live it because I know it's a software issue.

Are the issues really that bad? I was considering getting this tablet above all the others. Seems like majority of all the tablets issues are honeycomb related and could possibly be fixed in an update.

Re: Congrates to all of us Thrive beta testers Beware of many iss

I've had my Thrive for over a week now and while this is my first tablet I am pleases with my purchase and I played with the Samsung quite a bit before I decided to wait for the thrive. I have a Samsung epic so I really liked the idea of the Samsung tab.
In my opinion:
If the Samsung screen is a 10 then the the thrive is a 9.9- when they are side by side the Samsung looks brighter but at home the thrive looks as good as I remember the Samsung looked. I was a little disappointed because I read some reviews that praised the thrives screen so I was expecting it to be better than the Samsung but it is pretty much on par.
I like the way the camera on the Samsung works. My phone has the same feature where it will focus where you touch on the screen.
The extra thickness and the weight of the thrive is a non issue for me because it would be going in a case of some sort anyway.
I have no chrome peeling issues
Honeycomb issues are the same on both
Replaceable battery, plug options, SD card, rubberized back were a huge plus for me.
The thrive file manager is very intuitive
My thrive gripes:
The power/sleep button is under the wifi light and not the power light
It can't charge via USB
The media player sucks
Sound is really quiet on movies (although in fairness that could be because of my software to convert DVDs into mp4)

Re: Congrates to all of us Thrive beta testers Beware of many iss

I liked the Thrive for the most part, but couldn't get past Honeycomb. If I email myself an attachment, or someone else emails me an attachment I want to be able to download it without having to use a different program, or use the webmail version of Gmail. That is inexcusable. Period. I had several other issues with Honeycomb as a whole, but the attachment issue was over the top for me.

Re: Congrates to all of us Thrive beta testers Beware of many iss

I had the Samsung galaxy tab 10.1 for 14 days. And besides the screen being brighter I personally prefer the thrive. The tab had the keyboard lag... The thing for me is to put a movie on the tab I had to download Samsung kies and use their software to do so. It took me about 2 minutes to put one on the thrive. That is my tipping point the ease of moving files without having to use additional software and connecting to a computer. And the Keyboard lag while it isnt what I expected from both tablets I am a fairly quick typer and I don't see the problem what I typed is there when I get done, its not like it changes what I type. So to each his own I am not slamming the tab it is a very good machine but me personally I like the accessibility everything else is about the same.
But Toshiba need to fix the sleep issue asap or it will lose a lot of customers, I didn't have this problem until the update now I get it about twice a day but it hasn't soured me on the thrive just yet.

Re: Congrates to all of us Thrive beta testers Beware of many iss

I dont see why people leave there tablet on and in sleep mode, it just drains the battery. I use mine and then shut it off, turn it back on a few hours later when i want to use it again. It boots up pretty quick.

I had the Samsung g tab for about 2 weeks and returned it when the thrive came out.
Like other said I was expecting a WOW factor with the display, Its not wow but its really close the the g tab.
People that are fussing over the keyboard lag (like i did when i had the g tab) might not understand it happens with ALL the Honeycomb tabs, It Honeycomb not a given tab.

I'm sticking with the thrive for now. I have 45 days to return it to bestbuy if i really need to.
Right now the only big thing for me is the battery life is disappointing compared to the g tab.
Maybe we will be able to buy a larger battery soon,

Hitch

Yes, I'm surely with you on using a device and turning it off till I need to use it again! (Except for my cell phone of course---It does stay on all day but I do turn it plumb OFF prior to putting meself in sleep mode.)
