Connect chromecast to Directv Receiver?

I have a my non-smart hd tv downstairs.... and it does not have the USB port on the tv. But I do have an available USB port on my Directv receiver.... so I want to know if I can hook up my 'Chromecast' USB end to the Directv, and then it's HDMI end to the TV?.... ( I stopped here first)

The USB connection is only for power. I'm not sure if the USB port in the DirecTV receiver supplies any power, but it's easy enough to check--just plug the cable in and see if the Chromecast lights up.

And if not just use the power supply that came with the Chromecast.
