Connect my Gear S3 to my Galaxy S9+

Android Central Question

When I go thru the process it appears to want to 'Wipe' my watch before it can connect to my new S9+

I do not want to wipe the watch as I have Watchfaces and music and such that I do not want to have to go thru the process of re-syncing.

Am I doing it wrong.

Required in order to connect to new device. Should be asked if you want to restore once you get set back up.
 
Yeah everytime you set up your Gear S3 on a new device it has to wipe it. If you had the backup option turned on with your previous device it should restore all your watchfaces.
 
It appears at some point the backup stopped working. So the only backup I have is from Feb of 2017... so not good. I need a backup before I reset this watch.
 
Just laughed at my own name... CaptivateRookie... I have teuely run thru the Galaxy line of phones with my latest upgrade to the S9+ today...
 
So if I'm getting an S9 plus soon and I have a gear S3 I need to make sure backup option is turned on where on my phone that I have now or on the watch
