is there any reason why there isnt a way for connected media to find the music i just put on there from my computer? i just added 4 albums of music (all mp3s) and some pic files (all jpeg) but connected media wont update or refresh to find them even tho i reset the phone.
am i missing something? plz let me know if you need more info

Yes. It takes the media from Windows Media Player. So...you need to open your Windows Media Player, click "Stream", and select "Allow remote play..." and "Turn On Media Streaming" and make sure to allow it.

i dont think we are talking about the same thing. my phone is what wont recognize media (pics, movies, music) after i have put them there via usb. the phone wont search for the media even after restarting

there was no default "all media" folder. i did put it in a "music" folder. i am placing the files on the internal drive because i do not have a SDcard, if that info helps any.

Your phone should have came with an MicroSD card... You can get one for $10 at Walmart.

That could have something to do with it. Your camera wont work without a microSD card...

Because I'm cheap, my phone's built-in storage is greater than my SD storage, so I keep all my music, videos, and an occasional DVD .iso (Daroon Player can handle them) on the phone's internal storage. Never had a problem with media players finding any of it. You might try an alternative media player - for example, I've been using Google Listen instead of the built in player because Listen does not trigger the "mute all sounds but ringers" bug the HTC stock player has. But of course, Listen is just one of the many options out there.

The phone should automatically detect where music is located. Did you try restarting your phone? Sometimes it won't show up until you restart it.

yes ive restarted my phone multiple times and have turned it off and on. i have even taken out the battery and sim card.

astro file manager will find it, so i know it is on the phone. but i need it to show on connected media so i can use it for ringtones, alarms and such. i would like to find my photos there also so i can use them for backgrounds. i guess it is all just for convenience since it is connected to the whole phone

You should be able to use music for ringtones and pictures for wallpaper without using connectes media... I dont use connected media on my HTC phone at all. Music is in my music and pictures are in my gallery... All have the options to use them as I wish.

what app do you use to control all your media because ASTRO file manager will not enable me to use music as alarms or set up pics as the background

For me to use a song/MP3 as a ringtone.. i open it up to play, hit my menu button and it gives me the option to use it as a ringtone.. for pics, i go to my gallery click the image i want to use, hit the menu button and select to use as wallpaper

yes well that goes back to the beginning. connected media will not find my files to enable me to do that. i dont have a sdcard and it will not search the phone storage itself. so how can i enable it to find or force search for them

When I open connected media it says something about connecting to Wi-Fi or Bluetooth to locate players...

Truthfully I'd think it would be safer to keep your music, videos and pictures on a SD card rather than your internal in case something happens to your phone... You could lose everything.
