Connecting 2 kindle fire hds

Can you connect two kindle fire hds without using any wifi. Shouldnt they have the capability to do that? For purpose of file transfer.

You can simply use Dropbox to receive files.

Did you ever find out if you could join two Kindle Fire HDs via their Bluetooth capability? I would like to selectively transfer files from my old Kindle Fire HD to my new Kindle Fire HD. Thank you in advance for your help!
