Connecting Samsung Fascinate with iMac

I am unable to get my one day old fascinate to connect to my iMac. I know it's supposed to show up as a mass storage unit and then I can manual transfer music. Anyone else having this issue or am I running with misinformation?

When you plug it in, pull down on your notifications bar and mount the SD card. It should show up as a drive then
