Connecting tab 4 to smart tv

How do I connect my Tab 4 to my Vizio Smart Tv? Seeing I have a smart tv I don't think I need Chromecast, that dongle thingy or any of those things in nature right?
I've tried looking it up and tried everything that I THINK the videos and articles are telling me to do....
But I'm not necessarily technologically sound so I guess I'm just not understanding the lingo on what I need to do.... both of my devices ARE connected to the same wifi network.
Can someone please please please put it in plain English for me?

I thought smart TVs connected directly to the router for the internet/streaming.

Have you tried - Screen Mirroring?

To share your device’s screen with another device, enable Screen Mirroring.
1. From the Settings screen, touch Connections tab ➔ Screen Mirroring.
2. Touch the OFF/ON button next to Share your device’s screen with another device to turn Screen Mirroring ON . Available devices are listed.
3. Touch Scan to find more devices.
Touch Menu ➔ Help to for more information.

Yes my smart tv is connected to the router. And so is my tablet. But I can't figure out how to connect them together through the Internet wifi......

Yes I tried that and my tablet can't find my TV. Neither does my phone.
I have that Fire TV Stick on my TV at work and my phone found it successfully so I could do the screen mirroring. But I shouldn't have to buy that for my smart tv...... right?

Is there an option in the settings on your Smart TV for screen mirroring or is that just a Samsung thing?

I don't think it's just a Samsung thing cus I had found it in the settings on my Fire TV Stick. But no I didn't find anything about it in my Vizio's settings.
