Connection issue or Amazon messing with me

So my P6 connectivity problems have been better since the January update with one exception. When I go to my local Whole Foods and am the checkout I open their app to get the QR code to scan for the discounts. But I can never get the app to connect when I'm on cellular. The cashiers always suggest I connect to their open WiFi network and if I do, the app opens right up to the QR code.

Back out in the parking lot, I turn off the WiFi connection and forget the network and I can suddenly get the QR code on cellular again....

Maybe Amazon is blocking connection in the store to force me onto their WiFi to get even more of my information...

Joking. But it is one of the "quirks" that is my P6 experience.

Is it just the app or all data inside the store that isn't working?

I go to BJs and can't use any data inside store have to connect to their open WIFI to open Google shopping list but just outside the store doors works fine on cellular data

I don't know that I have tried other apps while shopping, but I have been on phone calls in the store on cellular.

It's that way inside of most large stores. Most store structures use a metal framework. You're essentially inside of a metal sheath that effectively blocks the radio signals from cell towers. The store's WiFi is actually a necessity.

I have my phone set to automatically search for the nearest and strongest WiFi when the cell signal isn't strong enough. In most places I frequent, I've already set up the store WiFi so I seamlessly transfer to their WiFi when I enter.

It is unique to my P6. Previous phone was fine. My work iPhone is fine. I almost never connect to public WiFis so I am noticing the connectivity problems with the P6.

The post was a minor complaint with a joke about a conspiracy.

Fair enough, your experience is different from mine.

The Pixel 6 line has been noted to have some cell reception issues (which I personally haven't experienced, at least not yet). Inside that Whole Foods, how many bars does it show? Are you able to access anything else on the web without difficulty?

I'll watch next time I am there. I have been able to maintain phone calls (with Pixel Buds). My Pixel 2 worked flawlessly in the same store for years. If I still got updates on that, I'd still be rocking it. Loved that phone
