Considering Android

Good day everyone. I am currently with webOS and liking it a lot. With what I have seen with ice cream sandwich and the disappointment with HP and their decisions, I'm considering one f the new Android phones that will be launching on Verizon next month.

Please suggest some areas that I should look into to learn about android and how I can tweak the phone. WebOS has Homebrew, what does this community have? I have just started looking and would like to be pointed in the right direction.
