considering dumping lg g5 for note 7

any reason why this would be a bad idea?

Not really. Should get better software update support (LG is still pretty bad). High end specs, and a top notch camera. You won't really be losing anything other than the removable battery. Screen on note is much better than g5 screen.

I compared the lg g5 to my note 5 a little while back and definitely feel the Note 5 is better. Now the Note 7 that's even better so it's a good move imo

I have been with LG for years. For a variety of reasons I have decided to ditch them... my first Samsung will be the Note 7. I mostly want to try a vibrant AMOLED screen and I find the IPS rather dull even though it is more "accurate".

Ive never been a fan of LG, so my opinion is somewhat biased.

I do bounce between notes and the motorola droids and have since the note2.

Touchwiz has gotten better over the last couple years, to the point there really isn't a reason i can find to complain about it.

Samsung has evolved the software so that it is easy for beginners, and pleasing for people who know Touchwiz and android.

Its just a matter of taste, but it doesn't hurt to try it. For me, i like the stuff built in to the latest Samsungs, part of it is the newer versions of android and part of it is Samsung's take on trying to make a good phone experience.

Good luck, and hope you enjoy it, but you can always go back if you want.

I feel the same way, but I'll wait to see what the V20 promises first.

Definitely going to any new phone from that awful G5 disaster is good... But if you like LG, wait until September to see what V20 looks like. They may learn from G5 mistakes and get a better phone this time around. Also, V20 comes with Nougat out of the box.
