Considering Rooting...keep sense, but use custom boot?

I'm considering rooting my Evo 4G, this is probably a noob question, but I'm wondering if I root my Evo, can I keep the stock Sense ROM, but still install a custom boot animation?

My main reason for wanting to root my Evo is to get rid of the bloatware (I could have lived with it), but I just recently say a really awesome boot animation that I would love to install, the thing is I don't want to get rid of Sense or the HTC widgets.
