Hey all.

I am considering switching from my note 4 to one m9 because I am sick of touchwiz. And pure android is not an option as Nexus 6p wont be available for a time in my country.

Will it be a downgrade? sidegrade? upgrade? What about the camera? Are you guys satisfied with the camera results? I tried searching for comparisons online but some say after some firmware upgrades camera is improved significantly. Is this true?

Im not using s pen much on note 4, and i don't care if phone overheats as I don't play any games nor record 4k. Maybe OIS could be a problem but idk.

Also I don't care about the resolution on Note 4 as i can't tell the difference and amoled whites are getting on my nerves with yellowish hues. I'm a more lcd person.

Also what about sense ui? Do you have lags, stuttters etc? I'm looking a fluid OS experience and really like sense ui design. (even more than stock android)

What about battery life? Screen on time and total on hours?

If anything other than these comes to your mind, do tell.

So please help me out here. :)

edit: Also I would like to hear your thoughts about m9 plus! That could also be an option.

If you dont care about screen preference then you will be happy with the M9.
I dont take a lot of pictures so not having ios isnt an issue for me.
I have both the M9 and Note 4 and each has its pluses and minuses.
The M9 has superb audio which i like.
I dont have a problem with either interface. For me my Note 4 runs great. But some games dont play well on it. Simpsons Tapped out is one of them. I get a lot of lag on it with my Note 4, but my M9 its extremely smooth.
Reception seems to be good with my M9 staying on B12 LTE a bit longer then my Note 4 dose. But im in Dallas and we have strong network here so not sure if that helps you or not.
On my M9 with the latest 5xx meg software update its working great.
I dont like the LCD screen on my M9. Compared to my M8 the M9 looks washed out and bland. Thats my biggest gripe. Either give me the M8 screen on the M9 or give me an AMOLED screen on the M9 and i would make it my one and only device.
I never use the spen on my Note 4. Such a waste but i just dont need it.
Im not a heavy user so battery life on both are good for my needs.

Wondering if you tried changing the screen calibration and whether that made a difference since Android 5.1?

I did move it to the right side, cooler, but its still not as good as my M8.
Moving it to the left made the whites look yelloish.

Im pondering the same thing, ive had the note 4 since launch and micro lag drives me nutz sometimes...it's not completely horrible but just annoying. I also think I could live with the smaller screen size better. I had the m8 and it just worked fluidly, I kinda regret selling it. The front firing speakers are also better than the backside speaker on the note 4.

Weird I came from an m8 and find this screen so much better. The whites were always yellow ok the m8. The m9 has a much more neutral tone which I find more accurate.

If HTC can put an AMOLED or SAMOLED display on the M9 then i would retire my Note 4 and go back to HTC.

Thanks a lot for your detailed answers.

I don't play games but I did some digging and found out screen quality is inferior then m8. I wouldn't want to go that low.

Also as I am using a exynos note 4 sound quality is pretty good (wolfson dac).

I think as much as I crave to use sense ui, I will wait for m10.

I will say the m9s screen is not as bright as the m8s and direct sunlight viewing isn't as good. Maybe you're right

The m10 will be the one to get, assuming it has the Snapdragon 820 (and OIS, etc.)...and assuming HTC is still around (despite what some writers are saying)!
