Constant Issue(s) with Android Operating System

I am generally happy with my Fascinate. It far exceeds the capabilities of my previous Blackberry Storm, but there are two complaints that I can't let go.

1. The lack of calendar sync through Exchange. Sometimes it works, but most of the time it doesn't. Since I use this for work, it really pisses me off!

2. It takes FOREVER to get yahoo emails eventhough I have the setting set for "checking frequency of every 5 minutes".

Any fixes? (besides Touchdown, I shouldn't have to pay for app when the syncing should already work)

1.) Sync/create through Gmail. There are plugins for Outlook integration if you need it.

2.) Use k9 Mail. Much more dependable with retrieving emails than the stock email app and is still free.

My fascinate was blotchy with sync/connect issues. don't hesitate to make verizon make it right. I made them give me a different model. No issues since.

Don't know how long you've had the phone but the new ones are either shipping with DI01 or getting it as soon as you activate the phone. You can check by going into settings/about phone and scrolling down to baseband version and build number. If they both end in DI01, you have it. Even with DI01 though, I still had very poor email sync times with the stock app. Even when set on 5 min intervals like you have.

Google Calendar Synch FTW!

Like sammich said, use Gmail. Like you I MUST have my work Outlook Calendar synched to my phone.

When I had my Storm the BB Calendar synching was terrible. To fix it, I got a Gmail account and do wireless synching between Work PC, Google Calendar and my phone, which is a lot better than having to wire up to my PC to synch my Outlook Calendar!

Once you have a Gmail account, all you have to do is download and install Google Calendar Synch (Sync with Microsoft Outlook - Google Calendar Help) to your PC. It will then wirelessly synch PC<>Google Calendar<>Phone Calendar (Google Acct).

You then can make a change in any of the three calendars and the others will get updated automagically. It's worked well for me.

One item to note though: the stock Calendar on the FASN8 doesn't allow you to set your Google Calendar account as default, so when you create new events via your phone you have to make sure you change the Calendar account to the Google one vs. "My Calendar" which is the built-in phone calendar. Any event on the My Calendar will NOT synch with your Google account. In fact, I've noticed that you have to select "Menu, Create" in order to make a new event and still have the ability to change it to the Google acct. If you try clicking on a timeslot in the Day view to create a new event, the field to change the Calendar account is disabled! So that event is forced to the phone's My Calendar and you can't change it.

Gotta love technology -so awesome yet so imperfect!

I understand, but you're really missing out if you don't. The stock email client stinks. I would at least use the trial version of Touchdown. I'm sure you'll agree it's money well spent.

I've found that if you are running DJ01, for yahoo email the yahoo mail app from the marketplace works best. The emails come in quickly without any hitches. If you have DJ05, seems like the email issue on the default email program is fixed.

+1 and agreed.

I've tried K9 and RoadSync and they were not a good as Touchdown Exchange.

I can sync my corporate Lotus Notes, calendar, contacts and email without fail.

Furthermore, Touchdown's Technical Support is outstanding, I they get back to you within <24 Hours.

All the Best!

Is Touchdown friendly with NOLED?

I cant have my sync constantly on (because the constant syncing of all our smartphones overloaded the work server lol ) so i have not tried NoLed with touchdown notification but ill try it out and let you know.
