Constant notifications from Google Play Services

So this is an issue that just recently popped up. When I check my phone after a couple of hours I'll have double digit notifications from google play services. I'm using Smart Launcher with a lock screen that shows the notifications. Usually when something sends me a notification I can double tap it and it brings me to that app. Double tapping these just brings me to my home screen. I read that some phones have been having an issue with a new google play update that causes it to constantly crash, so I'm thinking that may be what I'm getting notifications of, but I'm not sure.

Anyone else have this issue or know of a fix?

This is an old thread but yes, i get the 'Google Play service updated' notifications
Almost every time i pick up the phone there is a new one.
so.. its still going on
