Constantly receiving 1kb MMS from Hangouts group messaging

I’m with 3 other people in a Hangouts group messaging. I keep receiving a 1kb MMS telling me to tap to download. I’ve spoken to the 3 people and they say they are not sending me anything. When I long press the message and select View Details there is nothing there, when I long press and select View Profile it says no contact information found. I’m getting 6-9 of these MMS messages a day. I can’t block the 3 people I need to communicate with them. How do I stop receiving them these MMS downloads messages?

Are you using HO as an IM platform? If so, I would do a cache and data clear for HO and a Force stop. See if that helps.

OK, I cleared cache and data, now I wait and see.

It's been 24 hours and I'm still getting these 1kb MMS from the 3 people in the Hangouts Group, who are saying they are not sending anything and they are not receiving anything from me, for whatever that's worth. What else should I try so these stop coming to my phone? Could this be Malware or a virus?
