I have 146 contacts on my sim card and 40 contacts on my phone, How can i save all of them together on my desktop? I dont want to sync with google it gets all screwed up. it seems UiA backup contacts app only backups 30 contacts

Thanks

Are you on Verizon? If you use the verizon backup tool you can go to their website and export your contacts to a csv file. Not sure about the other carriers.

In the contacts app there is an import/export function that will back up your contacts to the SD Card as a .vcf file.

From there you can move it to your desktop and import into Outlook if you wish.

Good luck.

i thought i tried exporting it to my sd card but it only has 30 contacts on a vcf file.

is that procedure suppose to save all my contacts, i have 146 contacts on my sim and 37 on my phone.

does this import/export only save contacts from the phone?

is there a way to save both from my sim and from my phone into one file?

i tired UiA backup and mybackup app they seem only to save 30 contacts.

is there an app that does both sim and phone contacts?

thanks

Not sure how you would export from the SIM.

The contacts export would do either Google or Phone contacts.

There might be a way to import the contacts from the sim to the phone. Check the manual for your specific phone.

My wife lost all her contacts on her HTC Inspire. What's the best way to prevent that from happening again? HTC Synch?

HTC Sync is good, but if you store you contacts in Gmail they will be automatically backed up.

You need to import the SIM contacts and stop using the SIM phonebook. Backup the contacts on the device one you get them imported.

I'd strongly suggest importing them into your Google account. If they import properly and/or you perform any needed cleanup you won't have to deal with this hassle in the future and you always have an effective backup from sync. It's also a lot easier to migrate them later on, if needed. What problems have you had in the past with converting them?

If not Google, I highly suggest any account that syncs contacts wirelessly. If you leave it to manual sync you're likely to skip on the maintenance/backup and increase your odds of losing data.

Im used to syncing contacts on my desktop with motorola phone tools. simple to do it that way and no contacts are on anyones server. Ive heard stories about people losing their contacts?

when i did sync with my gmail account, i had double the amount of contacts, a set from google gmail on my phone and another set of contacts that were already on my phone from phone memory and on the sim card..

it turned into a mess so i deleted all the contacts from google. i dont know what if any contacts were deleted or merged in the process. just new to the syncing.. first, how do you sync with google so contacts arent duplicated where i have sets of contacts?

my best bet is to move my sim contacts over to phone memory, do i import or export to phone? whats manual sync, is that an option in my phone or on googles website?

thanks
