Contact list access blocked

The problem is after a reinstallation or even data cleariing, WA starts up and works as it should. And then reports access to the phone is not allowed. Attempts to call or take calls fails - one ring and hangup. After while, the access to the mic returns but access to the contact list is now denied. The contact's "translation" of a phone number to include the name is gone, but the number remains. The WA list of WA numbers is totally gone, and the WA icon is lost in the phone contact list.

Any idea as to what's gone wrong?

I seems as it WhatsApp is having a number of problems - contacts, mic, flash, camera. Email them and add your phone make and model to the list.
