Contact look up by first and second letter in name, how can I get this working on my S6?

Contact look up by first and second letter in name

For large contact lists, on my old G4 you could select a contact by using the alphabet listing on the right hand side of screen for the first letter in the name and then once first letter was selected move your finger in and it would allow you to select the second letter in the name. This second letter search seems to have gone on my new G6. Any insights appreciated.
