Have you noticed that on the GN, the image you have saved in google contacts for each contact gets blown up and stretched on the screen when you make or receive a call with someone that has a photo? I realize the resolution limit on google for contact photos may be to blame, but knowing this- why would google have their own phone blow up a contact picture to the point that it is grainy and pixelated? Any way to change this?

Yes, looks sh1ty. I wish i could use higher res photis - its a shame to have this kinds of flaw on such beatiful screan

The Google Contacts system just hasn't been brought up to par with the high-res screens and high-profile usage of contact photos that are now considered normal. This thread may be of some help.

I personally expect Google to update the Contacts system pretty soon, and I would be very surprised if they skip over high-res contact pictures and accompanying sync support.

Yes, I am slowly updating my contact pictures with new ones I take on the phone, or import from the computer via gmail (keeps the high resolution that way). Then I set the pictures on the phone. It does lower the quality when it sends it to the computer, but it keeps the higher resolution version on the phone.

It's easiest to go to the contact in twitter or Facebook (or Google?) do a screen cap (i'm talking on your phone the whole time) of the picture at full size. Go to your people app and click on the picture, edit, choose from gallery, screenshots

The problem with setting pics with the phone is, once they sync with google and then sync back to the phone (like after a factory reset) they get all distorted again. Google contacts limits the size to like 97x97 or something ridiculous like that.

So setting up through the phone will give you beter pics but if you are a flashaholic and wipe the phone for new roms, you are kinda SOL until google fixes it on their end

I deleted the ones set from my last phone and reapplied them through the nexus. That worked great and I read that ICS will save 2. 1 syncs to Google the other is saved for the phone to display during calls and such.

Reading that is what made me remove all the photos I had and essentially start over redoing it through the nexus. Now when I get a call the pics look great.
