So, I get my contacts synced from gmail -> my contacts list but how do I get contacts I add on my phone to be in my gmail?

Thanks

make sure your google syncs, go to settings, accounts and sync, and make sure auto-sync is checked, everything should sync.

If you have everything set up to autosync, it just happens and it is amazing how fast it happens.

It doesn't though. I added a contact in my phone yesterday, and that is checked, and it never showed up in gmail.

Go to the People App | Menu | View - check if you actually added the contact to the Google group. If you mistakenly added it to the "Phone" group it may not sync. You'll have to re-add it. When adding it make sure to change the group from the default "Phone" to "Google" before saving.

My google contacts have not synced properly since Tuesday 4/26/11. I have tried everything. Gmail, and calendar is syncing properly.

WTF!

Things I might try... (may cause extreme anxiety!) :D

First: Check again after you recover from the latest VZW nework data outage on the ThunderBolt.

If that doesn't allow your phone to resume syncing...

1) Make a backup of your contacts via the Gmail web interface (i.e. Export your contacts to a file).

2) Make a backup of your contacts on your phone to the SD card via People | Menu | Import/Export.

Delete all the Contacts on your phone. Reboot and see if it syncs. If not, delete all the contacts on Gmail website as well as your phone. Import your backup into Gmail and then see if your phone syncs to it.

OK, Phone is locked onto 4g synced all, and synced gmail separately, to no avail. So I tried deleting all contacts on phone and rebooting. Still no go. Calendar and gmail syncs would function, but contact sync would spin, but not update.

I had backed up all contacts on phone and from gmail just in case, but wasnt necessary. I then deleted all Gmail contacts, and then selected restore from the gmail "more actions" drop down box. I selected from "yesterday", and voila, phone instantly syncs contacts!! Dont know what happenned, but I was banging my head against the wall for the last 2 days!!

Whatev ....

Also as a side note,

I had a home page that included shortcuts for direct dialing contacts. Although these contacts match the newly restored gmail contacts, since the phone contacts were wiped and then re-synced, these shortcuts no longer worked. Had to delete then re-add the shortcuts.

Some surprisingly unintuitive BS in my opinion.

Probably a currupt contact that prevented syncing. I've seen it happen before.
