I'm using a Motorola G 2nd edition phone for the last 4 months. The phone came installed with Android 5.1.1. First 3 months smooth sailing...love the phone. A month ago it starts misbehaving -- badly!
Atleast 2-3 times a day my entire call log AND contacts just disappear. I can't see any calls made or received and the phonebook is a blank!
I store all my contacts on the linked gmail A/c and not locally on the device. When this error happens, I need to then restart the phone... go to accounts and sync contacts again. I often get a "contact sync is experiencing errors".
I even tried the "contacts sync fix" -- this only made matters worse...as it ended up interchanging people's numbers. For example, under my father's name a friend's number was showing!
I've tried disabling the contacts app and re-starting and re-syncing... this does the trick but takes quite a while to do...and is frankly a PITA.
I have also tried removing the account and re-adding it...and the same problem remains. What I'm baffled by is 2 things -- 1) this is a problem that surfaced unrelated to a version upgrade, and 2) what does the contact sync error have to do with the call logs causing them to be erased.
If anyone has any helpful suggestions...i'm all ears.
