Contact disappearing from Galaxy S5

I have recently noticed some of the contacts I haven't used in a long time were gone. I know I did not delete them at least on purpose. I have a S5 through verizon. According to my verizon account I have 872 contacts. Is there a purge that occurs if not used?

Welcome to Android Central! Do you know for sure that the contacts were in your Verizon account? Could they have been in your Google account or the local Phone account instead?

There were in the phone for sure. I just got that number by logging into my Verizon. I have always saved the numbers on the phone and used backup assistant. Is there a better way? Can I do a mass import into the google account if that is better?

Do you mean that they were in the Phone account? The local Phone or Device account doesn't sync anywhere automatically, and is usually the worst place to save your contacts if you want to keep that information safe and backed up anywhere else. Your Verizon account presumably saves to your Verizon Cloud, which is fine, as long as you stay with Verizon--but it can be a pain if you decide to switch to a different account, and then find that you can't sync your Verizon Cloud data with your new T-Mobile phone. Those are reasons why I always stick with the Google cloud.

You can do a mass import by exporting your non-Google contacts to a .csv or .vcf file, then importing them into your Google account. See the general steps here: http://forums.androidcentral.com/ge...ndroid-updated-2015-lollipop.html#post3707512
