I recently switched from a Palm Pre to a Samsung Fascinate. I backed up my contacts in Gmail prior to the change. On my Pre AND in Gmail/Contacts my numbers are ID'd by either cell, home(landline) or work. This made it super easy to know which number I was calling and especially when texting.

The problem I have is on the import to the Samsung, the numbers were imported but the ID (cell, home, work) were not. So if I pull up Suzy Smith and she has 3 phone numbers, I have no idea which is which. I have confirmed in Gmail/contacts that all numbers are ID'd correctly and have re-sync'd. Please advise if there is anything I can do to rectify this problem..

*I have posted under General as I felt this was not a phone specific problem but an import/export problem to Android.

Only manually. Open your Google contacts on your computer, open contacts in your phone and put the numbers in the phone where they go. (Long press to copy/cut, long press to paste.)

If your numbers are categorized by Home, Work, Mobile, ect in Gmail it should show the same on the phone, unless that's a Touch-Wiz "feature."

If it's Wiz messing you up try one of the other contact managements apps in the market, they have all sorts that will allow you to sort and display your contacts in just about any fashion you like. I set up DW Contacts for a friend because he needed to sort and display by Company, not name and His stock Contacts did not let him do that.

Hope this helps.
