Contacts issue

Ok, I thought I had this figured out but alas... no joy.

I had an AT&T Tilt. When it came time to switch over to my Verizon Incredible I ran into the issue of contact syncing. For some reason, Outlook had become corrupted on my computer some time ago and thus I could not use it to sync contacts. I instead saved my contacts to microsd, imported them into my contacts on google, then synced my phone.

I ended up with one seriously jumbled mess. My contacts basically showed a lot of un-clickable info (names, numbers, address, etc) in the "notes" section.

I then painstakingly went contact by contact changing the info into clickable info boxes under google contacts and they are now fixed there.

I went under settings/sync and clicked "sync now". It went through the process but sadly, no change to my contacts.

Furthermore, when I initially changed over, I had a ton of contacts that showed on my phone and under google as "Unnamed" with the info contained within. I went in and changed those that I wanted and deleted the others.

Under google, it showed 121 contacts. When I was done pruning, I was down to 56. After syncing my phone again a few minutes ago, it still shows all 121 contacts and still has the numerous "Unnamed" contacts with no sign of those I changed.

Any suggestions or ideas?

I had this same issue on the HTC one M8 when trying to use the predefined groups. It's disappointing that 4 years later this bug still exists.
