Contacts -multiples

I have a new fossil q explorist and am having a problem with contacts on the watch. Several contacts have multiple listings under their name, each with the same number. So number xxx-xxx-yyyy shows up 2 or 3 times under the same name. I've tried resetting the watch and repairing but it doesn't help. The contacts only show up with 1 number on phone. I have all other accounts set up on phone to not sync contacts. Any thoughts?

I have exactly the same problem in a Huawei W1. Can't find anything on Google to help. Its a mess. Let me know if you have any luck fixing this.
