contacts under Add Phone Number corrupt

Android has the ability to add multiple contacts under one name, a useful feature for business contacts where I can have the business name then X number of phone numbers each with their own name, so instead of having 1000 entries I might have 100 with and average 10 contacts in them.
The problem is that is is incredibly buggy. The biggest issue is that it changes all the names to OTHER, so I have a business name and 10 OTHERS instead of the names I entered. I also have problems integrating with Whatsapp for example, it will bring in the number and the business name, but not the individual's name or the business logo.
Any ideas apart from re-do the entire phone book?
