Got a text today from a friend.
I had his email address.
He finally got a new mobile phone.
He texted me his phone number.
You can't add it to a existing contact like you can with Samsung.
You have to write the phone number down, and go in the contacts and manually enter it.
Hope Google straighten this out.

You should be able to click on the pencil icon on the bottom right of your contact's "profile" to add the phone number.

did he text you from his new phone number? yeah you should be able to add that to existing contacts without writing the number down and manually enter it under his profile.

In the text app and within the message your friend send you(assuming he text you directly from his new number). Click on the 3 dots from the upper right hand corner. It has the option to add contact. Once you click on that it takes you to the contact app. From there you can choose your friend's existing profile and add the number there.

My contact app updated today so I opened it. It has functionality that I was not aware of. It suggested new contracts from Messenger and Email, and updates to current contacts. All this based on my previous contacts with these individuals. Pretty cool. Guess I should open the app more often.
