Continuum Navigation?

I'm considering the Continuum, but have a couple of questions. My friend has the Droid X and the navigation on there is great (even without VZ Nav). Can anyone tell me if navigation on the Continuum is similar? I was hoping since they are both Android devices that it would be. Can you speak destinations for the Continuum? Turn-by-turn w/o a VZ Nav subscription? Thanks!

It could go either way i guess. The GPS on the galaxy S phones seem to be hit or miss. Some of them have a fully working GPS but others (and this seems to be a big group of users) have problems with it.

If the phone catches your interest and there isn't another device that you want then i would say give it a shot. Keep in mind that you do have the 30 day period to return it if it isn't up to your expectations. The only downfall is that restocking fee but this is a small price to pay in order to find out if the phone is right for you or not.

I tried the Continuum in 3 different VZW stores. All of them were able to lock in the GPS right away and started giving routing instruction (using Google Navigation which I installed on all the Continuum I tried out).

On the other hand, Fascinates had hard time locking the satellite. One of them was "searching for GPS" for more than 15 minutes and still doing so when I left the store.

With google navigation can you speak a destination/address like the Droid X? Is google navigation voice turn-by-turn?

The Google Navigation on Continuum should work exactly the same as that in Droid X. It is from Google, not Samsung or Motorola.

it does & i was not a samsung fan in the past, but the continuum has changed my mind. The gps locks instantly & navigation works flawless. Infact i was with a customer who was showing off iphone 4 & i did voice navigation & dictation. He was shocked & speechless.

I've got a Continuum here for review. I have serious issues with the GPS, in the same location that many other Android phones work just fine -- including a Samsung Mesmerize.

Right now, side by side an Evo sees 9 sats, is connected to 8, while the Continuum sees 4 sats, and only can connect to one of them. The altitude and the compass heading are also incorrect on the Continuum.

I can not recommend any Galaxy S phone to anyone who has a need for GPS function on their phone, until Samsung at least makes things consistent between devices.

I also have times when the Continuum GPS works flawlessly. It's a puzzle, and IMO ruins an otherwise great phone.

I'm on day 8 with my Continuum and have used the navigation on multiple occasions and it has worked fine. The phone has had no problems finding and locking into sats for gps.

I haven't used my Continuum's GPS for navigation but I have for other things and had no problem. I do test the GPS using the app GPS Status to see how many Sats it will lock on and how fast. I haven't really had any problems getting locks on sats, even indoors. I am going to test the GPS navigation against my Garmin's tomorrow when I drove out to my girlfriend's parent's house.
