Control Data Connection

I've looked through a few threads involving Data Connections and the ability to turn it off. Only, I can't get any of them to work. Especially for 2.1 on the Fascinate. I've notably only used my phone on Wifi. The only time wifi was turned off was to simply check what the data numbers looked like (kind of pathetic that it doesn't work on wifi...). Its been bleeding data and I'm not very happy about it. I've tried a few apps that supposedly turn it off when the screen goes black or when I have the data connection setting to "off" but overnight I lost nearly a meg... I'll admit I'm cheap and only want to pay the $15 for 125 megs for the month. I'm already at 10 in about 60 hours and haven't used the phone outside of wifi... I even have the e-mail refresh settings turned to never... I've got the advanced task killers killing everything frequently... I'm not going to buy any app of any sort that claims to disable the data until I am absolutely sure it works...

What are your thoughts and suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Jim

Hehe... For $15 more you get unlimited data with verizon... If no other solutions present themselves, I suggest drinking 3 less starbucks coffees a month and just upgrading to the $30 unlimited data plan :)

I thought you HAD to have the $30 data plan with Verizon. I didn't even know there was a $15 option. Verizon is actually giving me a discount at $23.95 a month right now for data. My wife has to pay the full $30 for her phone though.

They just recently came out with the $15/150MB a month plan. I plan on switching 2 of the 3 lines on my plan to that in the next month once they get off BlackBerry's, which still require unlimited. As far as the OP goes, even on Wifi, you'll still use some data on 3g for syncs as they're done through the VZ network, not just the interwebz.

The JuiceDefender wasn't doing it for most of the day yesterday. At least, the only way to customize it is to go ahead and pay for the "Ultimate" addition. BUT right before bed I found they had a data usage widget and it seems to cut off the problem.

OCGreenMachine, I agree with your point but unfortunetly I've already shunned Starbucks and the purchase of coffee anywhere all-together. I'd like to just pay the extra $15 and not worry about data at all BUT it adds up for me. Its already an extra $180 a year and would cost an additional $180 a year for me to go unlimited. Now I'm not piss-pour... I just disagree with the cost of it all-together.

Thank you ladies and gentleman for all your input!

Jim
