I've had the watch for 2 weeks and for the first time earlier I got a watch needs to cool down prompt and it auto went into airplane mode for less then a minute and I couldn't access settings. Then it said phone cooled down and went back to normal. Anyone encounter this?

Haven't had that happen, which version have you got?
Mine is the 46mm bluetooth version and it never even felt slightly warm or anything

Happened to me once a couple weeks ago while doing work in backyard. It wasn't a particularly hot day and I was in complete shade so I found it a little puzzling how it could overheat. Hasn't happened since. Also 46mm LTE.

It will be interesting now to keep an eye on real life experience between lte & bluetooth versions but at least if you get the cool down message you know it's working except maybe it should not get hot in the first place, lte is obviously a bigger power draw so don't panic just yet

I have the LTE version and it happened to me after taking a call on the watch. After 10 minutes the warming popped up and watch went into airplane mode. minute later it said cooled down.

Obviously lte seem to the culprit but a 10 minute call on the watch probably isn't something many people would do anyway.
Try take it off your wrist and try a 10 minute call as well and see if heat dissapation is different

today only talked for 2 minutes and still went to cool down mode and hung up. this is my second galaxy watch.

Happened to me just after an update. Watch feels a bit warm, so I'm sure it's doing its thing.
