just got the evo so far love it amazing screen ,getting used to android more complicated than webos ,im trying to copy and paste an email from my gmail account to notes .it only lets me highligt the writing on the screen is there a way to scroll down and select all the writing on the e mail so that i can copy and paste?

Have to disagree on the complication.. I think Android is much easier to use, once you know the system. Long Press screen and that should give you options for copy/paste.

I wish you could copy and paste a text

Download Handcent and you'll have the best messaging experience available. Totally blows the stock messaging app out of the water. Copy and paste is easy in Handcent with just a long press

I found copy and paste to be a complete pain in the butt with WebOS. With Android, you just long press and select the text you want. Much easier than the Konami code of holding the gesture area down and pressing X while selecting text. It used to frustrate the heck out of me.

I don't like the idea of aftermarket apps to take place of native apps. I think it cheapens the phone even though it might help the experience. A phone normal usage capabilities should be user friendly and stable.

You can long press copy,,, with the stock text app. I have used it and it works for me.

You cannot copy a text received from someone or a text that has already been sent out.

Agreed...

But...

Android is the kind of OS that encourages and dares developers to make Android a better platform as a whole. Google wants developers to help them make a better user experience for the consumer. If you want rock solid... Yet restrictive... Then Apple is the name of your game. If you want freedom and options... Then Android is your platform.

Unfortunately... With that freedom you pay a bit of a price. Android is like the "Wild West" as far as platforms go.

But watch out... Android is poised to eat the rest of the industries lunch if they don't watch their butts. The general public is starting to catch on to how restrictive other platforms are... And the consumer is starting to bite back.

Oh weird they must have changed this one in the driod x 2.1. I Just tried again and copied one that i had sent and one that i received. Then it was able to paste it to the maps search bar.

I am a MAC guy since 1995 but I don't want the iPhone at&t rates are a ripoff. I have never actually used an iPhone or played with one. I have held it but that's about it. I also use Windows but not as often as I use to. I like Android. I did not know it was an open platform for developers to improve. I just thought Google was trying to take over the world LOL.

Make no mistake my friend, Google is trying to take over the world.... Just in a hippie sort of way I suppose. I'm not a Google worshiper by any means... Sometimes they can be as draconian as Apple... But at least they give the consumer a sense of freedom while they take over the world.

I think both can be true. I wonder what they'll rename earth... ;)

They already renamed earth. It's called Google Earth. I firmly believe Google is big brother. Making our lives fully interactive with Google in every way. All we need now is the Google laptop and for all to be implanted with the Google chip.

I don't know about copy paste in the stock messaging app, but the ability to copy paste in the gmail app was included in the froyo update, so maybe the ability to do it in messaging got thrown in as well. But I also use Handcent, so I've always been able to copy paste.

The ability to copy paste in the HTC Email app has always been there.

Tried to long press but it only let'sme select what's on the screen about the rest can u scroll down and select?

Actually, it's not a long press in the GMail program. You have to go Menu|More|Select Text and then touch and drag what you want copied. And do it right the first time -- once you take your finger off, it's in the clipboard.

You can say that again this method sucks golf balls!

I read reviews that say Hand cent hasn't worked well on Froyo.
