Is this possible? I used to do it all the time with my N97 - because I never remember to bring that mini usb cable with me to work...

Rename the file to a png or something. Send it, then use Astro to rename back to MP3, and move it out of the /sdcard/bluetooth directory.

I've not tried that, but I have to ask why SHOULD that work? Why should the N1 protect certain file types from transfer via Bluetooth? Is this a sop Google had to throw to the Music industry or something?

Tested out sending pictures / videos last night, roomate has an incredible I have nexus one, worked perfectly

I'm not sure. It's just that any time I tried to send an mp3 they phone would state that it's a filetype that it does not accept.

Probably because Google is a US company, and has to take extra measures to make everything lawyer proof. Carriers and the music industry would raise all sorts of hell if people were able to easily circumvent their racket and get music and ringtones for free :)
