Copy/Paste crashes every app I try to use it in

For the last 3 days, any time I try to copy and paste text with my S10+ - in any app - the app crashes and nothing ends up on my clipboard. I've searched for other instances of this happening and haven't found anything. Is this a known bug, or is it just me?

I have never had this bug in my S10+. Did you just do the monthly update?

Maybe you could clear the cache partition in recovery and see if that gets rid of the bug. Try copy and paste in safe mode first to see if it is happening then. If it works in safe mode then a third party app is likely causing the issue.

The process for turning on Safe mode is as follows:

Press and hold the Power button.

Tap and hold Power off.

When the Reboot to safe modeprompt appears, tap again or tap OK.

Your device will then restart and it will say “Safe mode” in the bottom-left corner.

I don't think this is any kind of known bug or anything. It sounds like one of two things. Something is using your clipboard app. Maybe it's stuck in a process with another app and can't quit or an app thinks it is accessing it and hasn't or can't release it. Or the Clipboard memory is being flaky. Something is stuck in its cache or data that is making think it is full or again it simply cannot quit a task it thinks it is in the middle of.

There are three things you can try.

Simply Force Stop the app. Go to Settings>Apps>enable system apps this will either be in the 3 dot drop down menu or in a filter at the top of the app list that says Your app with the sorting symbol>Clipboard save services>Force stop.

If that doesn't help, then clear the cache and data for the app. Same process to get to the Clipboard app in settings except go to Storage>Clear Cache>Clear Data.

The third possibility is another app accessing it that force stop didn't interrupt. To test this restart the phone in Safe Mode. For Samsung, press and hold the power button until the options to Restart, Power off and Emergency mode appear and hold Power off until Safe Mode appears. Tap that and follow any on-screen directions until the phone restarts in Safe Mode. This mode will prevent many services and apps from working but you should be able to find one in which you can attempt to copy some text and then paste it. If it works you'll have to identify the app that was keeping it busy. Probably/hopefully related to whatever you used it in 3 days ago when it was working. I don't think it will come to this but let us know what you find and we'll go from there.

Is this the stock Samsung keyboard?

I'm using Gboard, and today it magically has started working again. Not sure what fixed it, I didn't even reboot the phone, although it was on my list of things to try along with the suggestions above. Thanks for the help, I'll bookmark this page for the next time it happens.

So glad that things seem to be working well for you again. I did not run into this on my S10. A trick I would try if it happens again is to see if the same thing happens with stock Samsung keyboard or another app, like SwiftKey.

Ahh good that it return back to normal, if it does come back try force stop it and if it doesn't work reset it by clearing Data and force stop.
