Copying files from PC - music, videos, pics... How?

Total newber here.

Love this forum. Have done a lot already from the advice here.

So - perhaps a stupid question but, How do I copy my music, video, and pics over from my PC?

Just copy them to the micro sd card and insert into the phone?

Any help is very appreciated.

You can either take the SD card out, and put the files on it in a card reader, or leave it in the phone, plug in the USB cable, pull down the notification bar and click on the USB connected notification. Click "mount" on the popup, and your computer should see the SD card as an external drive. To use the stuff on your SD card, you will need to un mount it, I just unplug the cable and plug it back in.

Also, a free app called awesome drop makes it very easy to transfer files between an internet connected computer and your phone.

Our phones come with an app called AllShare. As far as I can tell its free.

There are 3 options.

"Play or download media from my phone on a player"
"Play or download media from a server on my phone"
"Play media from a server on a player, controlled by my phone"

I've only used it to download media from my HP MediaVault while connected to my home wifi but it also detects my computers. Works great, transfered serveral movies that way. I prefer having it connected to my computer via usb as the transfer rate is faster but nice to have for when im laying in bed and want a movie or song.

Only media I've used this on are xvids and mp3s.

I've used the default media player on the phone to play back xvids and mp3 with no issue so far. Played an xvid from 5yrs ago and played one i got a day ago and no issues with either. I haven't messed with any photos on the phone yet.

Thanks everyone. I ended up just copying them to the sd card.

It's taking some time but in the 24 hrs since I got this thing free from bestbuy I have made a ton of improvements I never would have tried if I didn't find these forums. In fact, I probably wouldn't even have gotten the SF if it wasn't for androidcentral.
