Alright so I'm trying to copy my music that I downloaded through an app in the play store to my computer and upload it to play music so that I can stream it to my Chrome cast but I can't figure out of to get the songs to my computer.. Do I just connect the phone to the pc then drag from the phone into a folder I make on my desktop? Sorry for the dumb question, new at this

If you connect your phone to your computer using a USB cable, your computer should recognize the phone as a separate hard drive, and you could then drag & drop files using your computer's interface. It can get a little complicated, depending on whether your phone has "USB Mass Storage" as a connection option, or if you're limited to MTP or PTP. With USB Mass Storage, you can view the phone's entire internal storage and external SD card, but with MTP, you can only access the media folders, so your music would have to be there in order to be seen by the computer. Another option is to move the files wirelessly using an app like AirDroid, which would avoid that problem.

It sounds like you're using an app other than Google Music. What app did you use to download the music?

You don't really need to buy an app to do this. It might make it a little more convenient, but it's unnecessary.
