Hello

So a fairly new Droid owner here. I have never owned a Droid. I did root this guy over the weekend to AB and what not but I just noticed this...

Can you not copy text in an email (using the Mail app). I have my Work Exchange email synced to my phone as well as Gmail going into that.

I hear you can copy it if I use the Gmail app but that doesn't work for my work email? This is the most bonkers thing I have ever seen. Any idea if there is some sort of work around?

Thanks!

I can't copy from the original email itself. However, if you hit "reply", you can then scroll back down to the text you want to copy, press and hold the first word you want to select, then, when the magnify window appears, take your finger off the screen. Choose "Select Word", then move the trailing cursor (the green teardrop) to the end of the text you want to select, then choose "Copy". An unwieldy way to do this, but it seems to work.

This does not seem to work for me. After hitting reply, when I press and hold at the first word, nothing happens.

the way it works for me is to press on the text, drag finger to select text, then it will copy it to the clipboard. Press reply, then paste.this worked for Yahoo mail.

I believe if you select the word of the text you would like to start copying and press and hold it down, you will have a window that pops up with several options, select text being one of them. You should be able to select your text section, cut, copy and paste. It is actually pretty good.

Hope this helps. BTW, I use mainly the GMAIL app, but I have also done this in the e-mail app as well.

I've searched on this very topic and found this discussion. louinnh - I tried your suggestion and it doesn't work with my Samsung Epic 4G. What does work is to follow the following: 1. Menu, 2. More, 3. Save in Calendar, 4. he text of the email will be in the calendar's description - and while working in that - you can copy text.

To me this is crazy and a step back that I can't copy text right in the email itself without having to do all of this. I know that I can copy text in the Gmail & Yahoo apps - but not from within the Email app that combines my emails from my business, hotmail and yahoo.

yes this is my only complaint with android. BB did this effortlessly. How can this not be available in android. Seems stupid.

This is how I do it. Works for any text on phone apps
