Corporate Discount on Verizon Plans

I currently get a corporate discount on my Verizon plan (not phone). In the old days of 2 year contracts, my understanding was that I had to buy the phone through Verizon to ensure I received the discount on my plan.

But now that there's no contract, it seems like there's no need to buy through Verizon, since there's no link between my phone purchase and my plan. Is that correct?

Looking forward to never having to buy a phone from Verizon again.

My corporate discount did not require a Verizon purchase. It may depend on the agreement between your employer and Verizon.

Thanks, after doing some research, mine may not have either. I just never went to the effort to look into this, and hadn't considered buying from someone else until now.

The discount is on the plan... You can buy the phone anywhere. But corporate discounts only apply to old plans. The grandfathered new Verizon unlimited data plan for example only gets military discounts.

My corporate discount doesn't require phone purchase through Verizon either. But since the new unlimited plan doesn't take that discount, upgrading from my grandfathered 6GB edge plan would nearly double my phone bill.

I worked for Verizon 2012 to 2016. Any discounts I'm familiar with were on calling plans, never required the phone be purchased from Verizon because the phone itself didn't get discounted.

Some locally owned stores had further deals. The chain I worked for had a deal with Sandford Health that they got a phone and accessory discount from our stores, but that was different than the discount applied to the bill.

Negative. I work for a large insurance company, not military. It all depends on if your company has any agreements with Verizon. Mine does. The military does. My ex-wife works for a bank and qualifies for a corp discount still. I have a 15% discount on the main part of my plan. I signed up with the new unlimited plans just a couple of months ago. Best to check with your HR department, or head to https://forums.androidcentral.com/e....verizon.com/discount-program/&token=MHxLJuxJ and put your work e-mail in at the bottom. They'll send you a link if you qualify. Very painless process.
link is supposed to be verizonwireless dot com slash discount-program
