I hate to ask this or kinda just bring this up, but could Android come out to be the next Windows Mobile. I mean with all the custom skins put on android and all the update problems it does kind of remind me of windows mobile.

Not trying to hate on any platform so don't flip if you really disagree.

Yes it very well could be the new Windows Mobile. Its got alot of similarities but its really to early to tell. It does drive home the point to buy a phone you will be happy with as is or be prepared to root and go that way when official support drops off.

Well if it weren't for apps like Android 7 wed still be able to distinguish between the two and have a legitimate race.

Android will always be better than Windows in my opinion. All platforms have their individual hangups in one area or another but android is top knotch. :)

No.

Android has many fundamental differences to Windows Mobile. One is the very fast update schedule of Android vs. the very slow update schedule of Windows Mobile.

For example, before the iPhone was launched---the very first one---Windows Mobile hit 6.0. 6.0 released in February of 2007, and the iPhone in June of 2007. Three iPhone generations later, in October of 2009, Windows Mobile hit 6.5.

With Android's open architecture, it makes it easier for manufacturers to work with. They can configure it to meet their device needs, and can do more with it than they could with Win* OS's. As long as the base system stays the same, the rest is flexible. Each manufacturer compiles the Android code for their device.

Windows is fully controlled by M$. All the manufacturers do is load the OS and request changes.

I agree. The update schedule is not the same at all. The time it took MS to go from 6.0 to 6.5 is an excellent example of this.

I actually only see the similarity between both is that manufacturers have control over the update process. And it ends there cuz roms and customisation have been around BB with hybrid OSs and in jailbriken iOS devices.
