Couple LG noob questions? V10

If the V10 is sitting idle how can you see your notifications without waking up the phone?
Do they show on the second screen while the phone is in standby?

I know you can double tap the screen to wake up the phone up but how do you turn off the screen?
Do you have to push the power button on the back to turn off the screen?

The secondary screen always remains on (you can turn it off if you like). LG claims it only uses 5% of your battery per day. When notifications come in they appear in that screen. They will flash a preview, then it'll remain as just a notification icon on the top left (like new email will have the Gmail icon in your notification bar). So this is always on by default.

Double tap to awaken screen... double tap again (in an empty spot) to turn it back off. You don't have to reach around to hit the power button. This works on the lock screen as well as the home screen. (just double tap on an empty spot on the home screen)

Thanks, still thinking about dumping the Note 5 for the V10.
