Coverage Question

I looked and could not find this answer. I am way new to Android. I am starting to look at my options for my upgrade in February.

I do not live in a 4g area, however I would hope to have it at some point. When looking at the 4g map, part of Oklahoma is white - no 3g/4g coverage. Does this mean the areas of my state that are 1X and 1x (on my BB Bold) will not get any voice or data coverage if I purchased a 4g phone? My husband is a soccer official and we use the phones/data to do his reports.

If this is the case, I don't know what we are gonna do. We need to upgrade phones, but I don't want to locked into a phone that is not going to work for us or to a phone that is too outdated.

Thanks for your help.

???

Are you sure, I looked at the OK map and only a small section of it on the east part and a part on the western end near the texas border only shows a relatively small amount where there's no coverage.

It's probably best to ask a rep at Verizon and get a definite answer before you upgrade to a phone only to find out you have no coverage.

From I-35 west show no coverage. (not Oklahoma City area) He does games in that area. We live in rural Oklahoma.

Why not get Sprint? They cover that area better and you would get 3G.

But if you are getting 1X service and it works very well then you should be okay with getting a 4G phone but just expect to change it using *#*#4636#*#* to CDMA only.

You still get voice and data coverage on a 4G phone in 1X areas.
