Crack already in screen

purchased a z flip 3 a little over 30 days ago and noticed a small crack in the middle of the screen where it folds. It's been in a case since purchased new and had never been dropped. Been trying to get help with Samsung support for over 3 hours and still no resolution. I am told that the screen is not covered under the 1 year warranty when this is clearly a defect. I've been a loyal Samsung customer with 18 phones and watches registered with Samsung. This is the absolute worst support I ever experienced and needless to say this will be the last Samsung product I purchase.

Sorry to hear that:(
It's hard to prove you didn't cause that in their eyes , do you have insurance?

This was my biggest fear with the flip and the fold.

If Samsung refuse to help contact your credit card company and see if they can help.

Heart breaking for sure and hearing more and more on this issue across Reddit and other platforms. Good luck!

Well this isn't good to read, considering I'm in the market for a Flip  A prominent YouTuber had the exact same problem a month into owning a Flip 3. He loved everything about it except for the slightly lackluster battery life... and the fact his screen cracked right across the middle directly where it folds. Makes me wonder if they cut some corners to get the price down

I've seen this a few times and haven't seen reports on the fold 3 or fold 2 for that matter doing that. It got me thinking why just the flip 3.

I have a idea, just guessing and thinking out loud. I was thinking what's different and I came up with this. The flip 3 is in the open position when you are talking to someone on the phone. Could there be unintentional pressure being put on the fold area when holding it to the head. On the fold 3 it's closed while talking on the phone.

Just a thought, I don't have first hand knowledge or evidence.

I will also add, anyone that has seen Flossy review video on the flip 3 has seen him show the coolness to one hand raise the flip with your thumb and whip it open. I instantly thought that was not a good idea, but we know it's probably being done. You can't do that with the fold 3, at least I don't think I can anyway. That's a possibility for the cracked screens also, which I know everyone it happens to will deny doing it.

I like that theory, it makes a lot of sense ;) I don't hold phones up to my ear much anymore, I'm either using Bluetooth or the speaker phone... and if I get a Flip I would definitely try and minimize the opening and closing as much as possible. I really want a Flip style of phone, but I'm just not sure they're completely ready for day to day use like the typical slabs are.

I respect that, I was that way on the first fold. For some reason I decided to try the fold 2 and it was a great phone, although it had to be sent in as the hinge broke. I'm hoping that was a freak deal. If it happens again on the fold 3 I will start having doubts and rethink the fold. I use my fold 3 everyday and so far holding up. It definitely is being used by more people as the popularity gained, so we will see how it holds up to the masses.

I also don't hold the phone up to my head much anymore either, but think about it when we do we are usually on the move and how many times have we tucked the phone under our head and held it up with the shoulder. Like I said, it's just a theory.

I saw the same thing with another customer while standing in line at TMO. This was his third flip. He said all 3 did the same thing, it looked like a crack right where it folds. TMO insurance had replaced the previous two no questions asked.

Sorry to hear.

So the Care+ Samsung offered free for 1 year doesn't cover it?

One thing I will say. Don't leave your Flip 3 open for long periods of time in your pocket if you're going to be doing a bunch of active stuff. If it gets stuck in a compromising position, you can bend it too much and crack the screen in the middle. Best to close it when not using it.
