Cracked Digitizer Problem

I dropped my phone and cracked the digitizer on new years day...a month later it just randomly shut off and the screen stopped working. I took it into a cell phone repair store and they replaced my LCD screen and Digitizer but now there is still a crack on the display and it has completely discolored the entire screen. I was curious if anyone new why this happened, how can it be fixed/repaired and/or if I should just get a new phone.
