Hey guys, I need some help on understanding a few things.

My sister owns a G1, and as the title says, she cracked the screen.

I looked it up pretty quickly thinking it would be a fairly easy replacement. Though after a bit of research apparently there are multiple things to replace since the screen is touchscreen? Something like the screen itself and the digitizer? Does this sound right, I'm just trying to understand which pieces I will actually need here.

The screen is cracked all the way through, the phone doesn't display anything except for a bit of random colors and lines.

Also, if any of you know the best place to buy these parts do share.

Thanks!

Sounds right. Can you post a pic of it? The top part that you actually touch is the digitizer (digits meaning fingers) and then the LCD is below which is definitely done in if you can't see any images.

Yes, replacing a broken touch screen on a G1 is pricey if you're just replacing the screen. The best thing I can suggest, is to get a new phone. If you have insurance on your T-Mobile account, you can file a claim with Asurion and have a new phone sent to you by the next day. The deductible for a T-Mobile G1 is $130.00 which is a bit pricey as well, but you're paying $130.00 to replace the whole phone this way, and not just the screen.
