So I decided to put that awesome Google fabric case on my phone and dropped it on my hard wood floor today. Cracked the entire bottom left corner, very much sucks.

I got a quote from ubreakifix they want $279.00 and that's with replacing the battery. I also got a quote from a place called Cloud9 that will do it for $179.00 and replace my battery. I feel like since Google partnered with ubreakifix they might do a better job but I'm torn if I want to spend another near $300 on a year old device. The guy from Cloud9 said ths screen will be good to go and everything will work but my water resistance rating will no longer be valid.

I feel your pain as I did almost the exact same thing a couple weeks ago, but my break happened in the garage. Like you, 3 XL in a fabric case and cracked the bottom left corner. Everything still works fine and I'm just gonna roll with it until the 4 is available. I called a few different places but they all quoted me $250+ for the repair. I just don't feel like spending that kind of money on a device that was gonna be relegated to backup duty in about a month anyway.

At this point I would do the 179.00 to carry you over .

I agree with not wanting to dump money in this thing but I can't live with the screen like this, my OCD is killing me. I don't plan on dunking it in the pool or toilet so I'll probably just do the $179 and hope for the best. If I dunk it then I guess I'm gonna eat a new phone cost.

Treat it like a phone without water resistance , you should be ok then later use as a trade in for pixel 4 :)))

That's what I'm talking about! The Pixel 4 is right around the corner. I like the way you think.

As much as I love the fabric case I always found it too slippery even with the cloth material. I'm sorry this happened to you. I would definitely stick to keeping the device as is and then trade it in for Pixel 4. The trade in value even with cracked screen may be greater than what you will pay to fix it.
