Cradle seems very hard to snap on

In the store, the cradle snapped on to the display watch very easily. I thought I was in for a treat after always struggling with the Gear Fit charger. It took me five minutes last night to get the cradle to snap on the watch. Is there some trick I am just missing.

It is awkward the first couple days until you get the feel. Seems easier to start on the bottom (button) and then snap the top. Hold the watch by the sides and in no time, it will be just as easy as the display unit. [=

That would not be very good.

My wife broke hers after about 6 months, mine has not broken yet.

Do not transport the watch in a bag with the charger attached.

If it breaks you can get a new one fairly easily, though you may have to pay for it. We bought 2 new ones as it was less expensive than our time to chase a free one. Some people have gotten the carrier to replace it.

There's two places where the charging cradle design can cause breakage - the receiving clips on the Gear itself and the clips on the cradle breaking off. The latter's an easy fix (get a new one), the former not so much. There have also been far fewer reports of the former.



The majority of chargers on eBay are knock-offs and don't have a battery in them to extend the use of the Gear when away from a power source. With all the discussion of the Gear's charging cradle design and the possible effects I personally wouldn't go the non-OEM route. If Samsung's having issues with their own design and manufacturing I'd be afraid of what OEM products built to less stringent tolerances might do to the receivers on the Gear.

You'd be crazy after all that's been posted to not be somewhat concerned about the charger design. It's known people come to forums to vent and post problems so it's hard to get a read on how big a problem this really is. Add to that the Gear S is a low-volume device with pretty minimal forum discussion. I read all this when I was researching the Gear and while observant, knock on wood, after three months there's no wear or stress that I've seen on either my Gear or the two OEM chargers I have.

Mine broke. I use rubber bands to hold it onto the charger. Works fine.
