If anyone has tried putting something on CL they now require validate a phone. VOIP won't get past their doors and then they suggest a cell phone. Not, prepaid don't get the goodies either.

If I'm reading it right I think he's trying to say that to post on Craigslist they now require you to enter a valid phone number and that VOIP and Prepaid phone numbers won't work

OK that's what I thought it looked like, but that makes no sense because they are technically valid phone numbers. How can CL tell that its a VOIP number or a prepaid number.

the number virgin mobile gave you WILL work. thats what I use. its never failed for me.

googe voice numbers dont work, but the VMusa number your paying for will.

try again

I never get a text or a call from them and when I try to verify the number it says it can't verify the number.

My cousin bought the Triumph off Craigslist, and he can't use it because VM says something about Security code being bad or something. So he has to get a new one....

if the person that sold it never removed it from their account you have to know their account pin so it can be transfered. Even if they let account expire. Had to help my sister with one she bought on CL. Had to email person and they gave us pin to old account and VM was able to pull up their account and transfer phone. You could try that if seller will respond. If not guess it's no good!

Unless they are talking about a bad esn!

Really? I just called in with my phone number and they gave me the pin right away it even had the previous users credit card info which I could have used but deleted immediately.

Had this same issue when I bought an OV for my father off of Craigslist (it was a lot cheaper than the OV I had bought for my mother the same month). Seller gave me the incorrect PIN and wouldn't respond to requests for the correct one. Here's how it goes:

The phone will receive a text message once the account is past due (owner doesn't pay for the next month) After just over 120 days past that date the phone will detach itself from the old account granted the seller doesn't bring the account current or report the phone stolen.

thats not a fault of it being prepaid. maybe there is network issues in your particular area and a text from an internet service like craigslist doesnt get to your phone the same as a text from a real carrier.

if it works for others on virgin, then you cant come on the forums and claim craigslist is broken for prepaid users.

besides, craigslist has been requiring phone authentification for the past 6 months or more. I do most of my work off craigslist and would be very broke very fast if I couldnt get it to verify with my phone.

Anyway to make it work?

call or text works with virgin mobile. I even used groove ip for the call and google talk for the text. 3 different options right there.

I think the problems with Craigslist on Virgin have to do with their location detection. Very often the ip address assigned to me will be no where near my geographic location, and craigslist sees this as someone out of the area trying to post. CL has a ton of absurd anti-spam things running on their servers, i've noticed just about anytime I attempt to post a CL ad from my phone, I get forced to revalidate my phone number and the ad gets ghosted. This I believe is because they see my IP where ever virgins data center is (Kansas or something?), even though i'm in NY.

Simply put, don't post ads to craigslist on your phone if you don't want your phone verification to be nuked.
