First things first. CUBS WINS! :)

Was watching the game last night and saw something funny.

The camera was panning across the audience behind Indians manager Francona. I noticed a Cubs fan in his 50s with a Pixel(XL?) in his hand. It was hard to miss because the Pixel's glass/metal back was very distinctive. What surprised me was that the guy had it in a clear plastic bag. It was raining lightly at the time(before the delay).

It was both funny and sad at the same time. Apple had iPhone 7 commercial during the game that showed the iPhone 7's waterproof capability by the pool.... :( The Fox cameraman must have been one of those Apple fanboys. :(

Would some rain really hurt this phone? Didn't it survive a dunk test pretty well?

I would have done the same... (but couldn't afford the $4700 ticket to the game)

I don't even take my Pixel near the kitchen sink. (compared to my other phone, the S7 edge, which I sometimes rinse in the kitchen sink, to get rid of gunk/dust) :(

I have no qualms putting mine near water. I washed dishes with it next to the sink last night and it received a few splashes. My droid turbo had the nano coating but no IP rating and it was fine.

I'm confident in this phone

But all the small print on the commericial states that water damage is not covered by warranty.

Well hello I think he was uninformed. Pixel can withstand rain or droplets.

GO CUBS! I'm running on just under 3 hours sleep... and quite possibly beer energy.....

Whether or not the phone can be hurt by rain (almost all phones can), someone (the fan with the plastic bag over his phone) evidently read my guide on wet phones. If the rain can't get to the phone, it can't hurt the phone, whether the phone is totally waterproof or a 10 year old phone that can get damaged by humidity.

I can see people still being extra careful with it even though it could take a little rain. I have seen some of the dunk test videos on youtube and while it wouldn't be something you want to do purposely, it does seem it can handle some water without any issue, at least not immediate issues.

I'm sleeping as much as possible starting tonight. When is the
victory parade in Chicago? I'm driving down to celebrate!
(250 miles, but it's been 108 years, so well worth the drive, no? :) )

Enjoy! and remember a plastic bag, just in case! :-)

Sorry for hijacking, but I want to thank everybody, and appreciate everybody's good will towards the Cubs

This is why they should've PUT THE HEADPHONE PORT ON THE BOTTOM!

Cubs "fans" coming out of the woodwork...

That happens in every sport for any team. Personally it's never bothered me.. more people to party with I guess. They can move on to the next shiny thing and I'll still be here. Now I just need Da Bears to turn it around.
