Well thanks to the people over at my other topic about the bootloader, i was finally able to get the Z4root to root my DPro. After doing so, I was then able to get the adb drivers for the phone to try a manual deodex. get the drivers here:

Motorola ADB Interface.

then confirm adb shell and su will work under a command prompt (windows 7). get the android sdk pack here:

Android SDK | Android Developers

you will need the tools directory from the windows zip to get adb.

then follow webst3r tutorial for manual deodex here:

[HOW-TO] Manually deodex your phone.

get xUltimate main version 2.2.2

if you are half experienced with adb at all then you should be able to accomplish this with no problem....

my next goal... to find out if a current bootstrapping method works for recovery....

I will let you know:rolleyes:

deodexing changes the system files currently on your android phone from the following format:

in your system/app folder:

a regular non-deodexed phones have 2 files per program for your apps like:

gmail.apk
gmail.odex

when you deodex, you essentially eliminate the need for the *.odex file. this frees more space on your phones internal memory along with speeding it up due to need of having to execute 2 separate files per app. It is also essential to deodexed when roms begin to come out since most need the base system to be deodex to work.

here is a more technical explanation:

What Is Odex And Deodex In Android [Complete Guide]

hope it helps

Cool

I kinda had an idea of what it might be since I downloaded that System Dump that someone posted and noticed that in the apps folder there were an .apk and a .odex file for most apps. Why are the .odex files included in the first place if the device will function just the same once they are removed? I notice that removing all the .odex files from the system dump folder would save approx 21.5MB. Hmmm..... time to get reading up a little bit more. Thanks.
